Dom is married to Leslie with three young-adult daughters who are all part of Southside.He grew up on the Gold Coast (QLD) with a constant suntan, a soccer ball by his side, and racing his family greyhounds.From a Catholic upbringing, Dom became a Christian at university (UNE, Armidale NSW) after understanding that the gospel is a message of grace, centred on having a relationship with Jesus rather than mere religion. Before studying theology at Moore College (Sydney), Dom worked as an accountant. He served in Anglican Churches (Sydney), at Crossroads (Canberra), and since 2003 has been involved in church planting across Canberra.He and Leslie love Southside as it enables them to minister to people from all ages, stages and cultures. Dom’s main role is preaching God’s Word, vision-casting, and prayer. He is currently undertaking a Masters degree part-time through Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC).
Jayan has been a part of Southside since 2006 when he and his wife, Prity, moved to Canberra to work in the Australian Public Service. Jayan and Prity have three young boys; Moses, Joseph, and Judah.Jayan grew up in Chennai (India) in a Hindu family right next door to a temple. He describes that Jesus saves sinners of whom he was chief mischief maker and culprit. As a ‘problem’ teenager he stumbled upon Jesus while reading a New Testament and frankly is yet to find His Saviour boring! After twelve years of working in the APS as an Engineer and manager, Jayan completed a Graduate Diploma of Divinity through Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC) and joined the pastoral team at Southside in 2018. Jayan’s role as the Community Pastor involves leading ministries that support the spiritual maturity of the growing church community, preaching the Word of God, and promoting the gospel at every opportunity. Jayan is currently undertaking a Masters in Divinity through SMBC (part-time).
Adam is married to Kay Ling and have an eight-year old son, Elijah. He and his family have had the joy of being part of the Southside community since 2015. Adam grew up in north east Victoria and heard about Jesus when he occasionally went to church and listened to the Bible being read. He gradually came to understand the grace of God and his deep need to trust in Jesus at the age of nineteen. Adam is a graduate of Moore Theological College in Sydney, as well as a graduate from the Australian National University (ANU) with a Visual Arts degree in painting. He has had many years of ministry experience explaining the good news of Jesus to people from different cultures. Adam’s role as Student Pastor at Southside involves getting alongside university students (both domestic and international) and helping them to grow and mature in their understanding of Jesus Christ. Chris was born and raised in Sydney with a multi-denominational upbringing, involved in many children’s ministries including running children’s kids clubs, camps, and training future Christian leaders. Chris became a Christian in his mid-teens, and a substantial period of spiritual growth for him occurred in his late teen/early twenty years. Because of this, Chris is passionate about ministering to young adults at Southside. Chris is married to Sandy and they have two boys. He thoroughly enjoys camping, 4WDing, playing sport, chilling with the family, and doing anything a handy man can do.
In 2015, Rowan moved to Canberra with his wife, Lisa, and two young kids. He and his family were drawn to Southside due to its reputation for solid Bible teaching and it’s family-friendly feel. Rowan is involved in coordinating Illumin8 Youth Group on Friday nights for the teenage population across the Bible Churches in Canberra, and serves in a range of other areas on Sundays, such as leading services and plucking a bass guitar. He and his family love being at Southside and have really valued the great teaching and fellowship it has provided for their whole family. When Rowan isn’t running after his kids, you’ll probably finding him gardening.
Chong and his wife, Poh Lin, have been attending Southside Bible Church (previously Woden Valley Bible Church) since 2003, with the exception of 3 years from 2011 – 2013, when they were in Tasmania (where their kids were born). They enjoy the warm fellowship at Southside and really value the Bible teaching. Chong has an interest in encouraging others to study the Bible more deeply, especially in the context of fellowship groups which meet during the week.
Hannah is married to John and has two beautiful children, Oren and Phoebe. Hannah’s role at church involves managing the financial matters, orchestrating the annual church camp, and other administrative tasks. She works in a part-time capacity.
