Fellowship Group

Fellowship groups are our regular, week-night small groups where we experience the deep community where people are cared for, and practice gospel living and community building. Group members learn how to support and uphold each other, how to hold each other accountable, and how to be gracious in receiving and giving exhortation so that each of them can experience the transforming power of God in all its fullness. Various groups of six to twelve people meet in homes across Canberra. The typical meeting involves fellowship, Bible study, sharing, pastoral care and prayer. Many groups are a blend of men and women, nationalities and ages. There are also specialised groups for men only, women only and mothers with young children. Currently our fellowship groups are meeting in:
Gunghalin: Monday evenings in Nicholls
Monday evenings in Bonner (MBF leaders)
Tuesday evenings in Palmerston
Friday mornings in Crace (for Women)
Belconnen:

Partnership

In one sense, every believer is part of the Church – the spiritual-worldwide ‘Body of Christ’. However, they also belong to a local fellowship where they promise to obey the Bible, live in community and support the work of the local church. At Southside Bible Church, we think this is a big deal.

Being a member of a church is not like being a member of a social club or other organisation. The Church of Christ is a completely different community – membership means ministry, service and accountability. It comes with certain pre-requisites, responsibilities and privileges. At Southside, we use the word ‘Partnership’ to describe this commitment to being part of our community.

Global Mission

The world is growing and changing rapidly; but the gospel of Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. There are millions of men, women and children around the world who do not know Jesus because they live in areas where there is little opportunity to hear about Him.

At Southside, Global Mission is one of our cherished values.

Because we believe that Jesus can transform lives across borders and cultures, we partner with brothers and sisters who have “beautiful feet”, and who proclaim the love of Jesus in places we cannot be. We are a church that partners with others in prayer, with our finances, with our support. We support 3 Mission Partners in secure locations (Central Asia, the Middle East, the Philippines). We pray regularly for them on a Sunday and across our Fellowship Groups and encourage others to get to know them.

We also have International Partners in various parts of God’s world. International Partners are Southsiders who are working overseas for a period of time and serving in local churches. God-willing they intend to return to Canberra and continue their ministry involvement with us. We regularly pray for our International Partners in church, at Bible Kids and in Solid Rock.

CrossCare

As a community, we are committed to the good of our neighbours in the Kambah and Tuggeranong region. CrossCare is a ministry of Southside Bible Church that serves the physical needs of our neighbours through acts of mercy and service regardless of their race, religion or status.

We offer practical assistance to those with special needs in our community, loving them in word and deed, whether or not they believe in the same things we do. We serve through a number of ways including volunteering, housekeeping, crisis care, food donations, and partnering with like-minded charities. We do this because, we follow in the steps of the One who taught us to love God above all and love our neighbour as ourselves.
